The Affordable Care Act is a reference to two separate pieces of legislation, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (P.L. 111-148) and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (P.L. 111-152). It provides American with health security by putting in place comprehensive health insurance reforms. The Act was intended to help millions of Americans access health care that cannot afford it. The belief is that those who will benefit most from this act are individuals that are low income, unemployed, or on food stamps. But the real people that this is benefiting are those who having working jobs but are not able to afford the premiums health insurance.
