How to Spot Asthma Symptoms
Asthma is the inflammation of the airways causing it hard for the person to breathe. The airways are called bronchial tubes and when they are inflamed, the air cannot come in and out of the lungs as easy. The muscles around the airways will tighten and sometimes trigger the symptoms. If you have trouble breathing at times, how do you spot the symptoms of asthma or just being out of breathe?
Asthma Symptoms
The symptoms of asthma can range from being very obvious to barely noticeable. Untreated asthma can lead to life threatening or sever harm to a person. They also can vary by person and age. Some people can go a while without having any symptoms while others will experience asthma symptoms daily.
Common Asthma Symptoms
Wheezing happens when you exhale and there is a whistling sound. The wheezing sound occurs when the air is being forced out through a passage that is constricted. Wheezing is a symptom of asthma, but it could also occur from other health problems like COPD or pneumonia.
Coughing persistently is an asthma symptom. It can worsen after exercise or at night. If it is a dry cough and there are no other symptoms then it might be cough-variant asthma.
When the airway is constricted, the muscles tighten and become inflamed. They can worsen when mucus fills the passages and cause difficulty breathing. This difficulty can lead to anxiety which can make it more difficult.
The feeling of chest pain is when the muscles tighten around the airways. It can be described as a rope tightening around your upper torso.
Outdoor exercise may also trigger symptoms of asthma. The environmental factors can constrict the airways and make it hard to exercise.
Less Common Symptoms
There are also asthma symptoms that are less common and can be triggered by common asthma symptoms.
